Basically Lebensraum is a reference to Nazi Germanys plans of annexing Poland and the Soviet Union. According to Hitler the German masterrace needed more ‘living space’, and the place to find it was east of Germany where the lesser slavic race were expendable. It is a bit of a crude reference, but the way that the Wall and the Israeli state justifies settlements across Palestine reminds me of it.
When asked what his biggest fear was, a local in a small village near Bethlehem, answered that is was the fear of losing the children. Anyone with children can recognize the anxiety when your little son or daughter is late. Imagine this feeling, combined with the uncertainty of the West Bank, Palestine.
Therefore my first blogpost is a tribute to the Children of Palestine!
